"While you been sitting around surfing the web, watching your ass get fatter, slowly losing what remains of your social skills while allowing your opinions to be shaped by the conjecture you read off the computer screen created by other misanthropic individuals who seldom leave their rooms, the five piece musical ensemble the Monorchid has been on the road getting stronger while you're hiding inside getting weaker. Let's put to rest all rumors and notions that the Monorchid is some sort of side project. We're a for real band and have been for the last year and a half so check yourself. The Monorchid contains both the singer and guitar player from the band Circus Lupus, as well as three other super punk rock heroes whose previous musical apprenticeships are equally as important. At this point in time all members of the Monorchid are a bit tired of reciting their lengthy "punk pedigrees" so if our previous ancient musical history is all that important to you then you are really not that important to us.

"The Monorchid should be credited with totally revitalizing the weak and diseased DC music community, and as we pull ourselves to the top of the heap we are going to bring every other DC band with us and that's a promise."

Sincerely,
The Monorchid (1997)

The Monorchid. DC's own firebrands who aren't afraid to call all of us losers out. C'mon, now.

Let them Eat...The Monorchid
1997
CD: $11 LP: $9

Recorded with J. Robbins (Jawbox) at Inner Ear, Monorchid punches out song after hyperactive song like a prizefighter going after Bozo the Clown. The result: twelve tracks of reeling guitars, hyperactive tension, staccato rhythms, and clever, acerbic lyrics. We kid you not, this is a great record that'll leave you reeling at the end. Split release with Dischord, vinyl released by Lovitt.
