The Machines Series

Simple Machines began back in 1990 with a simple goal: to put out a series of six compilation 7"s, each one dedicated to one of the simple machines of science. Beginning with Wedge, we gathered up four songs for each 7", mostly involving bands from the Washington, DC area who were willing to donate a track in exchange for a good chunk of records.

Okay, we know you can probably buy an original copy of Wedge on E*Bay for more than $3, but this 80-minute CD not only captures the glorious sounds of Simple Machines 01, but all six of the machine 4-band compilation 7"s listed below. Includes songs from The Hated, Edsel, Lungfish, Geek, Jawbox, Severin, Autoclave, Scrawl, Nation of Ulysses, Mommyheads, Holy Rollers, Juliana Luecking, Unrest, Superchunk, Rodan, Tsunami, Candy Machine, Cirus Lupus and Velocity Girl. A classic compilation.
